News
Reading news from the artists you love is a great way to discover more about their journey, creativity, and latest projects. However, it can be challenging due to the sheer volume of updates from various sources covering a wide range of artists. MusicHarbor makes it easy by showing only the latest news from the artists you follow.
News comes from the RSS feeds of well-known music publications and are filtered for articles that mention your artists. MusicHarbor sorts them chronologically and provides a stories-like UI element for quickly filtering articles by artist.
It also offers ways for you to personalize your reading experience by choosing between the standard website or Safari Reader, translating headlines into your preferred language (when the device language is other than English), customizing news sources, and more.
A context menu also offers the option to open the article in a browser, add it to Safari’s reading list, or share.
Top Charts
MusicHarbor has been keeping users up to date on new releases from their favorite artists for years. But sometimes you may want to discover music from artists you don’t know yet. That’s where Top Charts comes in. It lets you explore and preview trending songs and music videos, helping you find new artists to follow.
Top Charts can be found throughout the app, including in the new releases, music videos, and artist pages. Tapping the Top Charts button will display related charts: in artist pages, you’ll see their top songs; in new releases, the top twenty trending songs in the Apple Music catalog; and in music videos, the top twenty trending music videos.
The Top Charts UI makes it easy to navigate between rankings and their previews, while beautifully adapting to each item’s colors for an immersive experience. It also helps you explore different music genres and regions, making it easier than ever to discover what people around the world are listening to.
A convenient context menu also allows you to view the artist’s profile and follow on MusicHarbor, or open the item on your preferred streaming service.
Time Capsule
Tracking new music releases helps you discover your next favorite albums, while remembering past releases lets you revisit old classics. Time Capsule offers a simple way to rediscover music from artists you love and celebrate their album anniversaries.
It compiles a collection of albums from the artists you follow, released around this date in previous years. It’s a great way to revisit and enjoy timeless classics.
Other Improvements
For many years, MusicHarbor has used a flexible grid layout for artists, adapting seamlessly across all screen sizes, from iPhone to Mac. However, sometimes it’s useful to view artists in an alphabetically grouped list.
This layout is now available in MusicHarbor 5.0. It works similarly to the Artists section in the Music app, where artists are grouped alphabetically. It also includes a navigation bar for quickly jumping to a specific group when swiping.
MusicHarbor 5.0 also includes various other enhancements, such as the reorganized sidebar on iPad and Mac, stability improvements, and bug fixes.
