What’s New in MusicBox for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS 26
Updating MusicBox to the new design language was a lot like updating my other app, Play. Once the design clicked, it was all about implementing, refining, polishing, and making sure every view reached its best version of Liquid Glass. I’m still discovering small tweaks and improvements as I use the app, and I’m sure this will be a process that continues for months to come. But I’m happy with what I have so far and how it turned out.
Fresh Design
Just like with Play, I’ve already rolled out part of the redesign in the latest updates already available on the App Store, and changes involving Liquid Glass and the new design language will ship alongside iOS 26.
There’s not much about Liquid Glass that I haven’t already mentioned in my other posts. All the improvements I’ve highlighted before like deeper separation between navigation controls and content, easier access to the search bar, playful animations and transitions, and enhancements to modal sheets, are also present in MusicBox.
Updated App Icons
This update also includes small adjustments to make the existing icon ready for Liquid Glass in all styles: default, dark, tinted, and clear.
Tag and Icon Suggestions
Again, an area where AI can help making a few tasks easier without getting in the way. With tag suggestions, MusicBox suggests three tags that suit the music item, offering a mix of tags you already use and new ones you might want to create. And icon suggestions help find the perfect icon for your tag, smart search, and folder.
I’m thrilled with how MusicBox has embraced Liquid Glass, and I have plenty of ideas for future structural changes that will further enhance both the user experience and usability. Another exciting area is Apple’s Intelligence features. They’re still in the early stages, but I’m eager to integrate them more deeply throughout the app, helping with small tasks and unlocking new capabilities that weren’t possible before.
